November, 2008 – Italy: Following the recently started collaboration with Bampi – Studor’s new Italian partner – the year 2008 activity in Italy was characterized by a constant flow of event. Technical training seminars with all the sales force were followed by dedicated regional seminars specifically for plumbers and big wholesalers’ sales force. Full time daily “educational” presence of the Bampi team within key outlets paid great dividend in divulgating the Air Admittance technology. A national dedicated campaign is currently promoting the Combi-Siphon Plus as the ideal problem solving solution for all bad odors. During the sales agent conference held in Napoli in November, Daniel Rath – Studor Area Sales Manager – gave a presentation about the Studor Product Potentialities which boosted this “renaissance” boom for the Studor brand in this crucial market even further.

November 2008, Adelaide – Australia: Studor Australia is proud to be a gold sponsor of the inaugural National Plumbing Regulators Forum Conference in Adelaide. A conference that has gathered plumbing regulators as well as plumbing teachers from around Australia and New Zealand together to update them on current and upcoming regulations and gain momentum for a nationally applied plumbing code as well as just a national standard.
Monday, 10th November was based at Regency TAFE with the emphasis on plumbing training delivery with the following two days focusing on state and national authorities.
There has been the opportunity to exhibit twice within the same event. Once at Regency TAFE where all the plumbing teachers updated their literature with the latest catalogues and again at the actual conference venue. A major event of the conference was the official opening of S.A.Water House in the CBD where Studor P.A.P.A.s are installed within an exposed multi-storey HDPE stack system for all to see as well as being used as a teaching aid.

26-30 October, California – USA: The 2008 ASPE (American Society of Plumbing Engineers) conference and EPE (Engineered Plumbing Exposition) took place in Long Beach / California from October 26 – 30, 2008.
A large range of top companies exhibited in the convention centre of Long Beach and the show was – despite the economic turndown in the USA – very well visited. The booth of Studor created as usual a lot of interest amongst the visitors, who were mainly engineers, contractors and reps.
Steve White took the opportunity to give a presentation during the technical conference with the title “Defective Trap Seal Identification System”. This is a new technology which is under development between Heriot Watt University Edinburgh and Studor. Products are expected to be available by end of 2009. The system will allow to detect any faulty trap (siphon) in the drainage system, i.e. a potential source of a serious problem in sensitive installations, such as hospitals, etc. At the same time the presentation explained the many advantages of the Studor System versus the traditional way of venting drainage systems. Copies of the presentation are available at info@studor.net
The next ASPE conference and EPE show is in October 2010 in Philadelphia / Pennsylvania.

24-27 September, Calgary – Canada: The 8th World Plumbing Conference took place September 24-27, 2008 in Calgary, Canada. It was running parallel to the CIPHEX West 2008 tradeshow, which gave the nearly 1,000 delegates the opportunity to listen to very interesting presentations and to visit the tradeshow, where many leading plumbing firms exhibited their new products.
The conference was kicked off by Dr. Nick Bontis, leading strategy & management expert, who gave interesting thoughts regarding building brainpower for high performance and sustainable competitive advantage. The conference was running under the theme "Water - Our Life; Our Business; Our Responsibility!" Therefore most of the papers and presentations were dedicated to this subject and included words of representatives of the World Health Organization (WHO) and other experts in this very important field.
Obviously, being in the world capital of rodeo, the annual Calgary Stampede is world famous, a sample of it could not be missed and a special performance of wild horse and bull riding was organized especially for the delegates.
The new elected chairman of the World Plumbing Council for the next 3 years is Robert Burgon (Scottish & Northern Ireland Plumbing Employer's Federation - SNIPEF). It is also Scotland which will host the next event in 3 years in Edinburgh September 7-11, 2011.

May 2008, Istanbul - Turkey: The intense trade show activity of Studor’s partners never stops. Yapi Servis, our partner and national distributor for Turkey exhibited this spring in Istanbul at UNICERA (specialized show for interior bathroom design), TurkeyBuild 2008 (construction show) and ISK-SODEX Istanbul 2008 (a biennial plumbing, air condition and heating systems show) completing an intense promotional campaign with great success.
The Studor product range had the ideal audience in each show, responding to all type of enquiries: from plumbers to engineers and from investors to general contractors. The use of air admittance valves as “problem solvers” was intensively promoted; the Studor System was indeed very welcome as an effective solution for complex drainage systems. Increasing awareness of Air Admittance Valve Technology via specialized shows is today still a very successful way: over 1500 visitors - between the three shows - have paid a visit to the Yapi Servis booth!
The Turkish building markets have today some major outstanding projects, both in Istanbul and on the coast, and thanks to its geographical position the Turkish building industry is playing a leading role in both the Black Sea and the Middle East regions. The Studor Air Admittance Valves presence is already a reality in the market and much more has to come: we will certainly hear more from this outstanding country.

January – February, 2008: The European 2008 exhibition season has started with full steam. Plumbing shows and technical seminars are key marketing events for Studor brand awareness, even more important for the divulgation and the understanding of drainage ventilation aspects. Studor and its distributors’ partners have always embraced this philosophy fully, reinforcing the pioneering spirit of the brand.
- Humm-Busters, a specialist distributor of the Maxi-Filtra, attended the “France Show” at Olympia, London, 18–20 January, where a special section was fully dedicated to the French residential market. It was an ideal event where the general public and the professional operators within the housing market met. The Maxi-Filtra had an ideal audience while representing its use as a perfect problem solver for the septic tanks.
- Porto, Portugal, hosted “Teppfa 08” from the 24–26 January 2008. This particular event combined a technical seminar with a traditional show. At the seminar Prof. John Swaffield, Heriot Watt University, gave an in depth presentation about Active Ventilation (with great emphasis to the P.A.P.A.) and Prof. Alfonso from Averio University spoke about the drainage legislation evolution, with particular attention to the European Standard EN 12056–2 and its application. The event was hosted in the Afandega, the “old custom & excise” national protected building, with the participation of about 150 reputed and qualified professionals within the industry. Pinto & Cruz, our Portuguese distributor, presented both Studor Air Admittance Valves and the Studor System on their booth.
- Polyform organised a specific seminar in Zagreb, Croatia, on the 31st of January, where local engineering consultants had the opportunity to learn about the Studor System. This program was part of the ongoing Studor training activity in Europe, giving a real focus to all technical aspects of the drainage systems.
- Last week, 13–17 February, Athens hosted “Klimatherm 2008”, the biggest Greek show within the plumbing industry. Every two years this event becomes a real opportunity for the local market to come in touch with all novelties. Dimco, our Greek distributor, exhibited the full range of Studor product: a real attraction of their 150sqm booth. A big presence of plumbers created positive enthusiasm and many new potential customers appreciated the Studor Air Admittance Valves benefits. It was also a good opportunity for some international visitors, mainly coming from Turkey and the South Eastern European countries, willing to learn about new products.

13-16 February 2008, Orlando – Florida (USA): The International Builder Show once more takes place at the Orange County Convention Centre with STUDOR exhibiting again. Everybody was quite anxious to discover how the poor state of the construction and building market would affect the number of visitors. Luckily after two days of the show it can be stated that the number of visitors was approximately on the same level as the prior year. This is quite good, considering that the industry is suffering. As an example: one county in Florida gave out 800 (eight hundred) building permits per month one year ago. Last month the same county only issued 9 (nine) permits! Everybody hopes that housing starts will pick up again very quickly. STUDOR could not complain about the interest it created at the joint stand with other IPS brands. A new valve (Ultra-Vent) was introduced also. Other than that, the Studor System (combination of the Positive Air Pressure Attenuator (P.A.P.A.) and STUDOR Air Admittance Valves) continue to attract a lot of interest, and the number of large projects where the system is used in the US markets is increasing every month.
The next International Builder Show will take place 20-23 January 2009 in Las Vegas, Nevada (USA)

25-29 November 2007, Dubai – UAE: STUDOR exhibited again at this most important and largest tradeshow in the Middle East. However, it was a different story this year compared to 2006, as now we were represented by the new company STUDOR MIDDLE EAST. This fact was noticed with great satisfaction by many visitors, as it underlines Studor’s dedication to that market. Studor Middle East offers full commercial and technical support locally and has a large warehouse facility. Furthermore, obviously it was greatly appreciated that the Studor System now has full approval for the region and that consultants can freely plan their buildings benefiting from all advantages the system offers.
Baris As (Area Manager Middle East), Steve White, (Technical Manager Studor) and Franz Arnold (CEO Studor Group) were supported by staff from the UAE distributor Thomsun, and received a lot of interesting visitors from the United Arab Emirates and the whole Middle East region – but also from Europe, Asia and Australia.

12-14 October 2007, Perth – Western Australia: STUDOR Australia exhibited in conjunction with their Western Australian agent (Higgins Agencies) at DesignBuild Perth, held in Western Australia’s capital city’s Convention and Exhibition Centre. Peter Higgins (General Manager, Higgins Agencies) and Marc Williams (National Sales & Training Manager, STUDOR Australia) were both on-hand throughout the show and offered their expertise to the interested visitors. Peter and Marc also took the opportunity to educate the local building industry of the latest changes to sanitary ventilation which took effect there on 1 July 2007. Western Australian plumbers and builders can now group stack and branch vent with AAVs, as well as utilizing the PAPA to eliminate relief vent piping. Of particular interest also was a STUDOR P.A.P.A. connected to an H.D.P.E. stack, demonstrating its suitability for use under the Environmentally Sustainable Design Principle, or "Green Star", Building Code. This is a system steadily growing in popularity throughout Australia. For more information contact australia@studor.net (within Australia)or technical@studor.net (outside Australia).

29 May 2007, Dubai – UAE: An exciting new era has begun for STUDOR with the launch of STUDOR Middle East, which is based in Jebel Ali – a company established to be dedicated to educating and developing the market for the STUDOR products throughout the Middle East in close cooperation with their local distributors. The launch of STUDOR Middle East was made first to a press conference of daily newspapers, magazines, trade press and TV stations. This was followed by a highly successful seminar attended by more than 180 participants, comprising representatives of the Dubai Municipality, Abu Dhabi Municipality, top consultants and contractors, representatives of Heriot-Watt Dubai campus etc.
Franz Arnold (CEO STUDOR Group) and Steven White (STUDOR Technical Manager) flew into the UAE from Europe especially for these events and were very pleased also to welcome Professor Swaffield (from Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh, Scotland) to Dubai as honorary speaker to the seminar. Introductions were made by Franz Arnold and Mr. Saji (General Manager of Thomsun), followed by a presentation by Steven White explaining in detail the STUDOR System and the background behind STUDOR. Professor Swaffield then presented the results of his team's many years of research into transient pressures within the drainage system, their negative effects and how to avoid them – the key message being that the only system to work properly in high rise buildings is that comprising of P.A.P.A.s (Positive Air Pressure Attenuators) and AAVs (Air Admittance Valves), i.e. the STUDOR System. The highly successful event culminated in a lavish Indian/Arab buffet and drinks for all participants.
