December 2003, STUDOR Combi-Siphon Plus, the
revolutionary trap with a built-in AAV has been installed in the
AU$400 million upgrade of the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) in
Australia. With a history stretching back 150 years, the MCG is
undertaking a renovation/refit to bring it into the 21st century
and to upgrade its capacity to 110,000 spectators, incorporating
the installation of 640 STUDOR Combi-Siphon Plus'. The new stand
will also include restaurants, accommodation and offices. It is
expected to be complete for the 2006 Commonwealth Games. The chrome
STUDOR Combi-Siphon Plus was chosen by the plumbing contractors,
Collingwood Building Services, for its compact size and clean design.
As the trap is self-venting this saved on additional group venting for
the toilet blocks as well.

May 2003, the first Apartment buildings to be built
in Melbourne, Australia with STUDOR AAVs are slowly nearing completion.
Both “Southpoint” and “Sentinal” Towers in South Melbourne were at that
critical stage of construction where the plumbing contractor could go the
traditional route or use AAVs for his group venting applications. The amendment
to the Australian Standard AN/NZS 3500.2.2 had just been published, so Jared
Kaplan of Contrax Plumbing contacted Marc Williams (STUDOR Area Manager for
Victoria) for his input. The plans were viewed and it was agreed that both
projects were suitable for the incorporation of STUDOR products.
The builder, L.U. Simon, was happy to have fewer holes in the building and
so, after consultation with the Hydraulic Engineer, it was agreed to install
STUDOR Mini-Vents for both single and group venting applications. Now, interestingly,
the last project to be quoted will be the first one finished!

May 2003, STUDOR
Mini-Vents have been used for the renovation/refit of the Holiday
Inn at Melbourne International Airport in Australia. When built as a
Travelodge with the airport in the late 1960’s‘ the building was designed with a fully vented system. With the
opportunity of modernizing the system, it was decided to remove all the
extra pipework and use STUDOR AAVs for the ventilation requirements instead.
The building is being totally gutted and brought up to 21st Century standards.
Naturally, STUDOR AAVs were the first choice!
