STUDOR Air Admittance Valves (AAVs)

The Studor P.A.P.A. (Positive Air Pressure Attenuator) was invented by Professor J. Swaffield and Dr. D. Campbell of Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh (Scotland) in close Partnership with .

The P.A.P.A. is a revolutionary world-first developed to solve the problems of positive pressures (transients, back-pressure) within drainage systems of multi-storey developments.

Academic research into the solution over several years resulted in this intelligent product - allowing multi-storey building designers to simplify their design of sanitary waste systems, as the P.A.P.A. - in conjuction with the approved AAVs - deals with negative AND positive pressures.

The Installation

The modular units can easily be integrated into the drainage system design, or retrofitted into an existing installation to solve venting problems. Together with the AAVs, they provide a complete protection for the drainage system against the transients, without the need of costly roof penetration and extensive vent piping.

The Connection

The P.A.P.A. fits pipe sizes:
  • 75mm
  • 90mm (remove the rubber connector and replace it with a 90mm
    pipe-to-pipe connector)
  • 100/110mm

The Testing

This revolutionary product was first tested in the laboratory of Heriot-Watt and has more recently been installed in several complex multi-storey buildings in Asia and Australia. The experts are enthusiastic about the results.
