The Studor products increase the sustainability of the drainage ventilation without the need for roof or surface penetrations, and thereby improving the thermal integrity of the building, whilst also making substantial cost savings. Other drainage ventilation practices require the integrity of the building to be compromised through roof or surface penetrations to provide the same function.

The Studor System provides superior drainage ventilation performance than other comparable conventional systems which incorporate excess use of pipes. These substantial material savings through installing the Studor System not only reduces the quantity of pipe and the associated CO₂ emissions to produce and transport this pipe to site, but also provides for substantial associated cost savings both from the material and labour.

Contributing to Worldwide Standards in Sustainable Drainage Venting Design

In Switzerland, Studor products are the preferred solution for architects and engineers when it comes to achieving the benchmark Minergie accreditation for buildings. MINERGIE® is a sustainability brand for new and refurbished buildings.

Setting Sustainable Drainage Venting Benchmarks in the USA

Since 1998 Studor has also been involved in the American PATH (Partnership for Advancing Technology in Housing) scheme. PATH sets the benchmarks for the use of technology in housing, looking at quality, durability, energy efficiency, affordability and environmental performance. PATH is also supported by the US Department of Energy.

Studor provides a great standard for PATH because the Studor range of products reduces the amount of material needed in drainage venting, the amount of man and machine labour required, and also reduces the loss of heat through roof penetrations.

Sustainable Drainage Venting Projects in Italy

Studor has also been recognised in Italy through its distributor Bampi for their contribution to sustainable drainage venting design. Bampi has participated in a project called Casakyoto (Kyoto House) and here are the details.

In this project, a historic 3 floor building from the beginning of last century (about 110 years old) had been subject to 10 specific renovation steps, in which the drainage venting system was retrofitted using Studor products. The global result being the reduction of total energy consumption from 218kWh/m² per year to only 11kWh/m² per year, providing an energy saving of about €3,000 per year and a change from Class G to Class A in terms of the buildings rating system.

The Studor Maxi-Vent was installed on top of the stacks (inside the loft) avoiding any energy loss through drainage pipes going out through the roof, maintaining roof integrity and therefore maximising its thermal insulation capacity. You will notice the inclusion of the Maxi-Vent 5:08 minutes into the video example.
