STUDOR AAVs PROVIDE ECONOMIC SOLUTION TO MEDIUM RISE SOCIAL HOUSING

Studor AAVs have proven to be the easiest and most economical solution for a social housing development in the Middle East where poor building drainage can potentially present a major odour problem in the extreme temperature climate.

Background

The social housing development consisted of a block of flats over ten floors and the budget allocated for the drainage ventilation system was a small fraction of the total construction cost budget, itself extremely tight compared to western standards at a mere US$300/m².

The plumbing contractor responsible for the water supply and drainage needed to source an effective, yet low cost drainage vent pipe system.

AAV Solution

Studor’s Technical Department was established specifically to support project planning with customers and is used to solving this kind of problem. The team worked with the plumbing contractor to maximise a modular design concept, as each flat shared the same basic bathroom/kitchen layout. It was decided that the most straightforward solution would be to install Studor Mini-Vent AAVs within the false ceiling (under the floor concrete) to form the drainage system.

Result

The forward planning meant that the installation work could progress quickly, and without the need of highly qualified plumbers and constant supervision. The reduction in installation time and resulting cost savings were found to be significant compared to an alternative, more traditional, venting system. Studor AAVs are very flexible in application and easy to install, particularly during a new build construction of this type.
